Overview

Global Neighbourhood for Media Innovation (GNMI) is a registered not-for-profit organization working across Pakistan since 2017. They drive social impact through media literacy, digital advocacy, and capacity-building programs — with over 5,900 beneficiaries, 130 cities covered, and 1,479 media productions to their name. When GNMI came to us, their website told a different story: neglected, bloated, and partly broken.

What We Inherited

The site had been built and maintained by a previous agency. When we took it over, it came with a number of problems:

  • An unfinished feeds section on the homepage that was visibly broken
  • Dozens of pages and posts with no organization — hundreds of entries scattered with no clear structure
  • 40+ installed plugins, many redundant or abandoned
  • Several pages that were outdated or had never been properly completed
  • No active maintenance for an extended period

The core architecture was intact, but the site needed significant cleanup before it could be a reliable presence for an organization of GNMI’s scale.

What We Did

Plugin audit and cleanup — We went through all 40+ plugins, identified what was actually in use, and stripped the rest. We brought the count down to 25, reducing unnecessary database queries and eliminating potential security vulnerabilities from unmaintained plugins.

Homepage fix — The broken feeds section was addressed and the homepage was rebuilt into a functional, presentable page that properly reflects GNMI’s work: programs, social impact stats, trainers, innovations, and partners — all laid out clearly.

Page redevelopment — Several key pages, including the About page, were redeveloped from scratch. The About page now covers GNMI’s full organizational story: introduction, vision, mission, core values, goals, organogram, and profile — structured so visitors can understand the organization at whatever depth they need.

Content organization — With hundreds of pages and posts across programs, newsroom, publications, gallery, and opportunities, the backend was a maze. We organized everything into logical folders and categories, making it manageable for the client to navigate and update going forward.

Design Approach

The existing brand — navy, orange, and white — was retained. The focus was on clarity and completeness rather than visual reinvention. GNMI’s strength is the scale of their work, so the design needed to surface their impact numbers, programs, and people prominently without getting in the way.

The About page uses a structured, section-by-section layout — Vision, Mission, Core Values, Goals, Organogram — that works well for an organization that needs to communicate credibility to donors, partners, and institutional stakeholders.

Ongoing

The site is now actively maintained by us. With a clean plugin setup, organized content structure, and completed pages, GNMI has a stable foundation that can grow with the organization rather than against it.
